Coaching

Showjump training for horse and rider is available at Thundry Farm with resident British Showjumping Accredited Level III Coach Christine Shubrook.

Thundry provides excellent training facilities with an airy well lit, 25m X 50m indoor school and a jump paddock, on sandy soil, with a full set of jumps.

Training is open to both livery clients and visiting clients and can be provided via private 1-2-1 sessions or shared sessions (2-3 people).

Throughout the year 2 day clinics are arranged, or you can come for your own bespoke training package over a few days.  An ideal way to break a plateau or spend some time out with your horse.

Complete Gold Livery clients receive a weekly complementary training session from Christine and very good rates for additional sessions.  Bronze & Sliver clients also receive substantially discounted rates.

1-2-1 Coaching &

Mentoring

Coaching sessions can be given as a one-off or as frequently as you want.

1-2-1 coaching is completely flexible and rider centered.  Each session we can choose a focus or we can work on a training program over a number of weeks.

Some regular clients buy a block of 10 lesson 'tickets', which are discounted, making regular coaching more affordable.   Having a longer term relationship these riders are mentored, gaining support with horse management, goal setting and joining us at shows.

Group

Coaching Sessions

Some people find they learn well by watching others and enjoy the company of others.

Bring a friend along and have a session together, sharing is caring.  You can then continue to support each other at shows or at home.

Group sessions are arranged monthly, to give people the chance to have some coaching at a more affordable cost.  It is also a good way to meet up with others.  Check our Facebook or sign up for our newsletter.

Goal Setting

Mindset Coaching

As a NLP Practitioner for Sport and a Centre 10 Advanced Accredited Coach, Christine also offers mindset coaching to improve performance and confidence.

The techniques are incorporated into her everyday coaching.  Specific off horse performance sessions are also available.

Goal setting is the first step in creating a training plan.  It is a useful tool at the start of the season.  Setting SMART goals can really focus your training efforts so you make the most of your resources.  Goal setting isn't just for competitive riders, or those aiming for elite level.

Christine is a member of the Centre 10 Coaching Hub and attends CPD clinics annually, to keep her knowledge current and gain new developments in the coaching world, from both ridden and mindset aspects.

Coaching Philosophy

Each coaching session has an element of flatwork, gymnastic exercises, and ring craft, tailored to where the rider and horse are in their training.  The horse's way of going and the position of the rider being key to a confident performance.

Christine believes that in order to be able to do a 'thing' you have to understand why and how it works.  And that you need to able to practice your new skill until it becomes automatic for you.

She has a keen interest in biomechanical influences on horse and rider and keeps up to date with all areas of horse management.

This knowledge can be shared to provide holistic mentoring to her clients.

External Coaches

We have monthly visits from Lizzie Murray to keep us all in line with our flat work & dressage training.

Lizzie is a great coach for all levels of horse, even those for who dressage is not the obvious choice.

Clinics

We arrange clinics to supplement our ridden work with some world class people.  Like Andy Thomas.

We also arrange our own 2 day clinics which have a number of ridden sessions and off horse sessions to give a boost to your riding, or just some time dedicated to you and your horse.

Each clinic has it's own focus, with an element of flatwork, gymnastic suppling exercises and how to apply these skills to jumping a round - at your level.

PHOEBE

Christine's help throughout the years has been invaluable to me. She's fab at seeing the bigger picture and helping you to set long term and short term goals. She not only helps improve my technical riding capabilities, but also ensures that I have the right mentality, which is really essential to progress overall
